As July comes to a close and August begins, Pocket Star author Stephanie Haefner is sharing the summer heat by bringing us a list of her top five favorite sex scenes in movies. Stephanie’s new eBook original, One Size Fits All, is on sale now.
I have no shame in admitting I adore a good sex scene, whether it’s in books or movies. I love the passion and the Gotta-Have-You-Now-Or-I’ll-Die moment. I openly admit to watching, rewinding, and rewatching these moments again and again.
So grab a glass of wine, sit back, and enjoy some sexiness with me 😉
#1: Dirty Dancing
This is my favorite scene in my all-time favorite movie, with one of the best lines of all time:
Me? I’m scared of everything. I’m scared of what I saw, I’m scared of what I did, of who I am, and most of all I’m scared of walking out of this room and never feeling the rest of my whole life the way I feel when I’m with you.
Baby is inexperienced and unsure, but she faces her fears and goes after what she wants… because she can’t not have him. She can’t walk away from this chance. I love how Johnny fights it, because he knows he shouldn’t, but he needs her, too. They dance sensually for the first time together, and it quickly turns into more. He’s careful with her. He knows she’s not like any of the other women he’s ever been with.
I’ve always been intrigued with the attraction between opposites, and especially something like this: rich and poor. Jack shows Rose what life is like when you stop caring about appearances, and how amazing it can be when someone sees you for who you are, not your social standing or how much money you have.
Never before had sex in the back seat of a car been hotter. So hot they steamed up all the windows! I seriously gasp every time I see the hand on the window.
I’ve always been fascinated with the Titanic tragedy and I adored this fictionalization of the events. And there was totally room for Jack on that piece of wood!
#3: The Longest Ride
Oh my God am I a sucker for a shower sex scene!
I have recently become a huge Scott Eastwood super fan and this scene has it all. Sophia goes to take a shower, but purposely leaves the door open a little. He sees her, they lock gazes, and he watches her undress for him. He gets a little nervous and jittery, which is so damn cute and hot at the same time. He has to make a choice: go to her, or stay away because he knows this thing they have can’t go anywhere. And he makes the choice we want him to. Lucky, lucky Sophia! The warm water, their bodies pressed against the cold shower tile… I can almost feel it just thinking about it.
#4: Pretty Woman
I think every girl in the 90s dreamed of being Vivian—maybe without the hooker stuff, but the fantasy of being swept away by a rich guy. He’s damaged and she’s just the medicine he needs. The scene that gets me is when she kisses him on the mouth. She finds Edward in bed asleep, which is a rarity for him. He is able to sleep because he’s finally found peace in his life… with her. She kisses him on the lips, waking him, and he knows how huge that is for her. They make love and at the end, she tells him she loves him, thinking he is asleep. He’s not.
#5: The Notebook
It wasn’t over… It still isn’t over.
Oh my. That rainstorm. The way he carries her in, soaking wet, and then holds her up against the wall and kisses her. Holy $&@% I love a good up-against-the-wall kiss! He carries her to bed after years apart. There is so much need and desire in that moment. They’d been forced apart, but nothing was holding them back now.
Bonus: How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days
I adored this movie. Two people, who had no intention of actually doing it, fell in love. Andie does as much as humanly possible to repel Ben, and he takes it all because he wants to win his promotion. They end up despising each other. Until that one moment where they forget what they are each trying to accomplish. They see each other for real, for the first time. There is technically no sex in this scene… but we assume there is once they get in that shower 😉
And yeah… I totally re-watched all these scenes as I wrote this article 😉 Thank you, YouTube!
