As any voracious reader knows, there are so many books out there, it can be hard to choose just what to read next. So what could be better than a hand-picked recommendation from someone in the know? Every Wednesday the XOXOAD team likes to find out what some of its favorite authors are reading. To that end, we’ve asked Sophie Jackson, author of An Ounce of Hope, the third installment in the Pound of Flesh series, to tell us what she’s been burying her nose in these days!
What am I reading?
Oh, how I wish I was! Just recently, I’ve been unable to start a new book due to work commitments and writing my own. As a result, my TBR pile is now officially gargantuan. I’ve picked a couple of books that are currently sitting on my night stand waiting to be devoured and a couple that I managed to read a couple of months ago. I love all kinds of books, from romance to thrillers and everything in between. Basically I’m greedy and I want all the books!
Back in October, I managed to read After You by Jojo Moyes. Seriously, this woman could release just about anything and I’d read it. She’s phenomenal. After You is the follow up to Moyes’ first heart crushing novel, Me Before You, and it doesn’t disappoint. Her words kill me and heal me all at once. If you aren’t familiar with her work, buy her stuff immediately. You’re welcome.
Part and Parcel by Abigail Roux is a fabulous read. The third book in the Sidewinder series, which is an offset from the equally brilliant Cut and Run series is an M/M story that gets the blood pumping and the heart bursting. I never believed I’d get swept up in a gay romance, but Roux has a way with words that leave you helpless. I love these ex-marine boys so very much. Start with Cut and Run and fall in love with Ty Grady and Zane Garrett before starting the Sidewinder books. You won’t be sorry.
The first book on my TBR list is Bloodkiss: Black Dagger Legacy by J. R. Ward. I am obsessed with this woman’s work and the Blackdagger Brotherhood books are phenomenal. I adore them all and can’t wait to get my teeth into this newest edition. The plot sounds amazing and the inclusion of six plus feet leather clad vampires in it makes me feel things. Awesome!
The next book on my TBR list is Kate Baxter’s The Last True Vampire: Last True Vampire 1. As with J. R. Ward, I love dark paranormal books, and the steamier the better! Michael Aristov is the last true vampire and he sounds very, very sexy! I can’t wait to get my teeth into this one.
